School Governance
Welcome from the Chair of Governors
Hello and welcome to the Federation of Nonington and Goodnestone Church of England Primary Schools.
As Chair of Governors, I’m proud to represent two wonderful rural schools that sit at the heart of their communities. Our governing board is made up of dedicated volunteers who care deeply about the children, staff, and families we serve. We’re here because we believe in the power of education to transform lives and we’re passionate about helping our schools thrive.
What makes our schools special?
Both Nonington and Goodnestone offer something truly unique. As Church of England schools, they are rooted in Christian values that shape a warm, inclusive, and nurturing environment. Our rural settings provide a peaceful and safe space for children to learn, explore, and grow surrounded by nature and supported by strong community ties.
Each school has its own character and strengths, but together they form a federation that shares expertise, resources, and a commitment to excellence. This partnership allows us to offer a rich curriculum and a wide range of opportunities, while maintaining the close-knit feel that makes small schools so special.
What does the governing board do?
Our role is to support and challenge the schools to be the best they can be. We work closely with the headteacher and staff to set strategic direction, monitor progress, and ensure that every decision puts children first. We also oversee safeguarding, finances, and the long-term sustainability of the federation.
But governance is more than just oversight, it’s about service. We’re here to listen, to learn, and to work in partnership with families, staff, and the wider community.
We’re here for you
We want every parent and carer to feel confident and connected to our schools. If you have questions, ideas, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re approachable, open, and always keen to hear from you.
Thank you for being part of our school community. We look forward to working together to support every child’s journey.
Warm regards,
Karen Stanford
